Methodology

To deliver the high-quality insight that informed this report, Markel UK commissioned market research conducted in two parts. Phase 1 consisted of qualitative one-to-one, one-hour long telephone interviews with 12 high level executives/senior decision makers in UK small and medium- sized enterprise (SME) care businesses that took place between 3 August and 14 September 2022.

Interviewees were asked for their thoughts and feelings relating to the issues currently impacting their business, including how they perceive these challenges, which challenges they believe will be the hardest to overcome, and what type of strategies they have in mind to mitigate risk or overcome the negative impact of these issues.

These interviews informed Phase 2: a quantitative 20-question survey with 200 senior decision-makers and high-level executives that took place between 31 October and 11 November 2022.
